Susan Stencil - Owner/Director/Yoga Instructor
SusanStencilAt 50, most people begin to think about what they will do when they retire. I laugh when I think it only took me 50+ years to decide “what I want to be when I grow up!” In 2007, I was introduced to hot yoga; after my first class, I knew my future was born. I had finally found what I had been searching for my entire life. This type of yoga was healing, peaceful, rewarding and life-changing. I could now ultimately see myself doing something that would help others achieve radiant health and allow me to operate my own successful business. I became a certified Bikram Yoga Teacher in the fall of 2009, and I also received additional certification to teach the style of yoga you will experience at our studio. Building my very own studio is a dream that I am still watching unfold with much amazement and gratitude. I am very excited to share this dream with each of you, and I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you and watching how this amazing practice of yoga and fitness brings you health, peace, and life-changing results.

FullSizeRenderVisit the studio any given day and you will see me practicing hot yoga in Susan’s Venus class and helping take care of the studio. We are so honored to be part of this great community and hope you will enjoy taking our large variety of yoga, Pilates and fitness classes. After playing college football and many years of running competition, I was extremely inflexible. In just 3 years of doing hot yoga, my flexibility has improved more than I ever thought it could! If you think you can’t do this type of yoga...just ask me. I will tell you…yes, you CAN!





Aaron Smith - Yoga Instructor
FullSizeRender_copyI started practicing yoga after I experienced a severe back injury - bone-on-bone grinding, a pinched nerve, and a compressed disk. I was seeing a chiropractor five times a week and taking pain killers and muscle relaxers just to be able to walk. After my first yoga class, I fell in love with the practice. It fixed my body in a way that Western medicine was unable to. After practicing for awhile, I realized that I wanted to teach yoga - to make an impact on people's mental and physical health. I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training in February of 2015. I believe that yoga has the ability to change both our physical bodies and our mental landscape. You can only try so hard in yoga - there's no pushing through your limits. Each time we get on our mats, we only have to do our best - and our best is perfect in that moment.


Bridget Camp - Yoga Instructor
FullSizeRender_copy3I was first introduced to hot yoga when a friend and I signed up for a month of classes. As soon as I tried it, I was hooked. I love the feeling that comes from a sweaty Vinyasa class, and the meditative calm that occurs in yin and venus, which has greatly relieved my scoliosis. I grew up in Clarkston where I was involved in teaching kids Martial Arts classes. I have a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, and have found the same mindfulness adults use on the yoga mat is a great tool for young kids in the classroom! In 2016, I completed my 200 hour teacher training simply to deepen my own understanding of the practice. I had no intention of ever teaching classes, but here I am, I couldn't be more excited to be part of CHY! My goal is to create a space where others can gain greater physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being.

Kathy Noble - Yoga Instructor
FullSizeRender_copy2I began practicing yoga 5 years ago to balance my running life and in attempt to work through some major knee issues. As a result of growing my practice, I have avoided double knee replacement and found balance and joy in my life. I completed my 200-hour training in April of 2016 and have come full circle in my practice. My full time job as a first grade teacher keeps me grounded and my students also enjoy practicing yoga and mindfulness. I love teaching vinyasa, slow flow, and most recently, yin. I am a hands-on instructor and have led many to try their first yoga class. My goal as an instructor is to meet all my students where they are and allow them to grow in their own practice as they also find balance and joy.




Kim Tene - Yoga Instructor
IMG_0189_copy1I have been teaching yoga classes here at Clarkston Hot Yoga from the first day the studio opened in 2010. You will find me teaching a variety of classes throughout the weekday mornings. I am passionate about yoga and want everyone who takes my classes to feel better when they finish class than when they came in.






Lynn Thomas - Yoga Instructor
Untitled4433434Lynn Thomas, RYT-200, is an Ashtanga yogi at heart, but has realized the importance of building a solid foundation in her own practice; thus evolving her desire to teach Basic yoga, Slow Flow, Vinyasa and Yin classes as well. She is also a Thai Massage Therapist and truly believes that the practice of yoga is a gift for ALL bodies to enjoy. She finds much inspiration in assisting her students explore their way through the many benefits of the mind, body, and spiritual connection that the practice of yoga offers. Her classes focus on breath, strength and flexibility - balanced with music and inner peace. You will leave her class walking a little lighter, stretching a little further, and breathing a bit deeper.




Dr. Porsche Fischer - Director of Training / Lead Training Faculty
PorscheFischerPorsche Fischer, Ph.D., truly believes that yoga is a sanctuary that can save and improve lives. She has relied on the therapy that her yoga practice provides to enhance the quality of her life and the lives of those around her for almost 15 years. Her classes focus on using laughter, play, and years of experience as an E-RYT to strengthen, heal, and empower the body and - most importantly - the minds of her students. She is currently pursuing her RYT 500 and is also a Professor of Sociology who has been teaching Marriage and the Family courses for over 10 years.


Andrea Gartner – Fitness Instructor
IMG_0210_copy2I am an AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor with additional specialty licenses to teach R.I.P.P.E.D. and ZBox Fitness. I have not always been a fitness “buff." My love of being fit and healthy has evolved over the years. After raising four children with my husband of over 30 years, I decided it was time to focus on my health and well-being. I truly enjoy teaching and sharing my energy and enthusiasm with the many wonderful people I meet in my classes. I believe it is never too late to start embracing a healthy lifestyle, and my classes are very welcoming and non-intimidating. In addition to teaching fitness, I enjoy my job as a preschool teacher.



Heather Bordogna - Fitness Instructor
heather head shotI have been teaching fitness for 20 years and love to teach a blood-pumping class with lots of energy and good music! I am certified in and have experience with all types of fitness, from bootcamp to Tabata to Fitness Fusion and Core. I live in Clarkston and have 3 daughters and a son. 







Renee Turner - Fitness Instructor
reneet Greetings fitness enthusiasts! I have lived in the Michigan area for most of my life. I graduated from Lake Orion HS and went on to obtain my BBA from Northwood University in Midland. My journey into the health and fitness industry started shortly after I graduated and moved to New Jersey. It was there that I discovered the exciting world of group exercise and became so inspired to make it my career path. While pursuing my fitness interests I got married and had 2 fantastic children – Nicholas and Mickayla. During a 10-year period living in New Jersey, Connecticut and eventually back here in Michigan, I earned assorted certifications, including Personal Training, and can teach a multitude of group fitness formats from boot camp to Zumba! I believe the key to any successful program is the participants’s level of commitment in making activity a part of their daily life. In a nutshell: move it or lose it!
